3 Painful Tattoo Spots You Should Avoid (Unless You’re Brave!)
Are you considering a tattoo but are worried about the level of pain you might experience? When it comes to tattoos, there’s no question that they look cool. But is the pain of getting a tattoo worth it? It all depends on where you get the tattoo and how much pain you can take. Everyone one is different and each area to get tattooed is different, so the pain can vary from person-to-person and spot-to-spot. Generally, there are spots that are universally more painful than others. So, if you're looking for a new tattoo and want to avoid pain, then you definitely don't want to go anywhere near these three places.
The Feet & Ankles
Though not as popular as some other areas for tattoos, feet and ankles are incredibly sensitive spots. require extra care and attention due to their delicate nature; after all, our feet bear our weight each day so they can be sensitive in general. But when it comes to getting inked? Well, let's just say that they are even more sensitive than normal! From walking around barefoot or wearing uncomfortable shoes all day long (ouch!), our feet take quite a beating—and adding a tattoo into the mix only adds more stress on this already fragile area. So, if you plan on getting a tattoo in either one of these spots, make sure you go slow and steady and have plenty of breaks throughout the process.
The Rib Cage Area
If you’re looking for a spot that will make your stomach turn when you hear the needle start buzzing, then look no further than the rib cage area. This part of your body is sensitive to begin with, so having a needle digging into it can be quite excruciating. There isn't much fat or muscle around your ribcage either, as this area also has thin layers of skin over bone with a few muscles here and there. As such, any tattoos done in this area can be very painful due to the lack of protection from the needle. Plus, if you get a large piece here, it will take several hours to complete which means many more hours of intense pain.
The Stomach Area
We all know tattoos hurt. But if you’re not prepared for it, it can come as a bit of a shock. The stomach area is notorious for offering one of the most painful experiences out there—especially if your stomach is full at the time! That’s because there isn't much fat or muscle that sits between your skin and bones; instead, what lies beneath this spot is just raw nerve endings. Ouch! Also, add into the mix having to control your breathing to provide as steady of a surface as possible to tattoo on. Control your breathing, take breaks as necessary and you should make it through.
But no matter where you decide to put your next tattoo, there is always going to be some amount of pain involved in getting one—it just depends on how brave (or crazy) you are when picking out a spot for your ink! Just remember that whatever area you choose likely won't be as bad as those three painful spots listed above! Before making any decisions about where exactly you want your new ink done, make sure that you research all available options thoroughly so that you can pick out an area with the level that you are willing to tolerate! Good luck!
